Cryosat-2 Cal/Val meeting
The European Space Agency is organizing a meeting for all Principal Investigators of the Calibration Validation Retrieval Team of Cryosat-2 in ESA-ESTEC in Noordwijk, The Netherlands, on October 18 and 19 2007.

CRS1: New GPS/GLONASS receiver installed.
Chrisoskalitisa site (CRS1) contains a continuously operating GPS/GLONASS station located at the small fishing port of Stavros, Agios Nikolaos, Chrisoskalitisa, West Crete. The receiver was installed on 7 March 2008. It will also be collocated with a tide gauge (bottom pressure). Data will be downloaded via Hellasat communication link.

Hellasat on line in Gavdos
A connection to send and receive data from the Theophilos site in Gavdos has been established via the Hellasat communication satellite on 10 October 2007.

GVD6: New GPS/GLONASS station in Karave
A new GPS/GLONASS station, collocated with the radar OTT tide gauge at the Karave harbor, Gavdos was installed on 30 August, 2007. The receiver is a LEICA GRX1200PRO (serial No. 352843) with an antenna LEIAX1202GG. The name of this station is GVD6.

Establishment of a European radar altimeter calibration and sea-level monitoring site for JASON, ENVISAT and Euro-GLOSS.

A research project supported by the European Commission´s Fifth Framework Programme in the context of "Support for Research Infrastructures" within the Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development Programme, contributing to the implementation of the Key Actions:

2.4 "European component of the global observing systems for climate and oceans" &
3.4 "Operational forecasting of environmental constraints on offshore activities"
